Where exactly is the Collaborative Design Center?
We're located on the top floor (19th floor) of the BMW building (so named because there is a BMW dealership on the ground floor) at the northeast corner of West 57th Street and 11th Avenue in Manhattan. Both the M31 and the M57 buses have stops in front of our building. The nearest subway station is the 59th St./Columbus Circle stop on the 1, 9, A, B, C, & D lines (there are subway entrances/exits at the corner of West 57th and 8th Ave).
Is there parking available?
There are parking garages located on many of the surrounding streets, e.g., on 57th St. between 11th Ave. and the West Side Hwy, and between 10th and 11th Avenues on 58th and 59th Streets.
Who owns this place and what is it used for?
The Collaborative Design Center is owned and operated by Continuum Health Partners. It is primarily used internally for corporate planning activities, but it is also made available on occasion to external, non-competing entities for a fee.
Who handles set-up, catering, clean-up, etc.?
Basically, you do. By contracting for temporary use of room(s) within the Center, you are paying for access to the space and use of the standard materials normally kept on-hand (see below). Your groups will be responsible for setting-up the space (arranging the furniture, moving the walls, etc.) as well as cleaning it up (returning it to it's original condition). We are happy to refer you to a number of local caterers who have handled food service for us before (you will need to handle billing/tipping with them directly). If you have extraordinary needs, we can also help you locate independent contractors who can help you with logistics support and "knowledge work."
How much does it cost?
Rates are negotiable.  We price for opportunity and value. When considering our rates, consider the truly unique nature of working in an environment specifically designed to facilitate and enhance collaborative group processes. And, consider that we provide use of many standard features/technology that would cost hundreds, if not thousands of dollars 'extra' in a typical conference facility.
What type of stuff will you have use of in our facility?
Internet kiosks, TV/VCR kiosks, copier, fax, phone lines, CD music library, plants, toys, eclectic reading library, high resolution digital cameras, CD burner, 11x17 scanner, web page building software, walls and table tops that you can write on, etc.
What's the next step if you're interested in using the Collaborative Design Center?
You simply need to contact Georgia Williams-Mascol by phone (212) 523-7313 or email: GMascol@chpnet.org. A representative / point-of-contact from your group will be expected to make a site visit before you actually use the Center to get a general orientation to the facilities and its features.
