Anatomy of Ovarian Cancer

The ovaries sit on either side of the uterus and are connected to the uterus with thin tubes called Fallopian tubes. The ovaries hold eggs for possible fertilization. An egg will pass through the Fallopian tube to the uterus. Located in the pelvis, the ovaries are situated near major vessels like the aorta and pelvic lymph nodes. Because of the location of the ovaries, ovarian cancer often spreads throughout the abdominal cavity to lymph nodes and other parts of the body.
