Radiation Therapy

Radiation therapy is occasionally used as part of ovarian cancer treatment. It may be given after surgery in patients with minimal residual ovarian cancer, or if there is recurrence. At Continuum Cancer Centers of New York, we have the ability to deliver a state-of-the-art treatment known as "intraoperative radiation therapy." The procedure, which takes place in an operating room, is used to administer a high dose of radiation directly to the tumor, without damaging the surrounding normal tissue.
