The Heart Center at St. Luke's-Roosevelt

Expert and compassionate care begins with leadership. St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center has long been a preeminent medical center in New York City for the diagnosis, and the medical and surgical treatment, of heart disease. Interventional Cardiology
The Interventional Cardiology Program provides advanced catheter-based treatments for a wide-range of cardiac conditions. We are committed to achieving the best possible outcome by combining innovative technology with a careful assessment of each patient's needs.

Our goal is always to design a treatment program that maximizes potential benefits and minimize risks. Procedures are performed in one of three new digital catheterization laboratories capable of producing the highest quality imaging currently available.

Catheter-based Services:

  • balloon angioplasty
  • rotational, extractional, and directional atherectomy
  • intracoronary stenting
  • intravascular ultrasound and doppler analysis of coronary blood flow
  • mitral vavuloplasty -- "Inoue balloon"

The Interventional Cardiology Program is pioneering a number of new analysis techniques and treatment options, including:

  • pharmacologic and catheter-based strategies to reduce restinosis
  • determinants of coronary artery blood flow
  • mitral valvuloplasty
  • interventional therapy for cardiogenic shock

Echocardiography Services
Diagnostic studies include:

  • 2-D echocardiography
  • color Doppler studies
  • transesophageal echocardiography (TEE)
