Division of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

Founded in 1973 by Dr. Edward Stroh and Dr. Jerome Friedman, the Division of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery has been an integral part of the Hospital Center since its inception. The residency program has produced a multitude of outstanding and well-rounded oral and maxillofacial surgeons who have gone on to successful careers in both private practice and academics. St. Luke's Hospital Center is known as one of the busiest trauma centers in New York City and our division is responsible for all facial trauma that comes through our doors. This allows our residents to gain ample experience in the treatment of a variety of facial trauma, from simple lacerations to complex facial fractures.

In addition to our busy trauma service, the Division of OMS offers a wide array of treatments including dentoalveolar surgery, preprosthetic surgery, dental implants, orthognathic surgery, reconstructive/cosmetic surgery, treatment of dentofacial infections, temporomandibular joint disorders and oral and maxillofacial pathology.

The Division of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery strives to provide the highest quality patient care and resident training. The outpatient clinic located at St. Luke's hospital consistently treats thousands of patients every year and is staffed by the oral & maxillofacial surgery residents under the supervision of a full-time attending surgeon. The residency program is a comprehensive four year course of study with one resident accepted each year.
