Resources and Activities

Our residents and fellows have access to a variety of career, service, and networking opportunities at our campuses throughout New York City. From orientation through graduation, we are committed to serving the entire community with programs that foster educational and personal growth.

House Staff Councils

Each of our campuses has a self-governed representative body of interns, residents, and fellows. These forums meet to discuss patient care issues, education, and decisions affecting the Graduate Medical Education (GME) community, including allocation of stipends and benefits.

We invite our residents and fellows to contribute to our patient safety culture through root cause analyses, improvement projects, and resident quality councils. Many of our house staff council representatives also serve on important institutional committees, including the Medical Board and the GME Committee.

Career Development and Counseling

Our Graduate Medical Education Office provides career counseling, as well as lunch-and-learn seminars for all residents and fellows with participation from experts in financial planning and contracting. As a resident or fellow, you also obtain access to our Physician Careers portal, which showcases job opportunities in the Mount Sinai Health System.

Social Events

We understand the importance of maintaining a reasonable work-life balance. As such, we offer several social events in partnership with our house staff councils. Recent events have included our annual New York Boat Basin Mixer, happy hours, ice cream and cupcake socials, Dogs for Doctors, onsite massages, and karaoke night.
