Children, Adolescents and Families The Child and Family Institute treats patient's ages 4 to 18 years old, with and without substance abuse disorders, who suffer from mental illness. Those with mental retardation/developmental disabilities as a primary diagnosis are excluded. Several specialized treatment programs within the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry constitute a continuum of care. These programs include: the Child Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic, the Adolescent Alternative Day Program (AADP), the Comprehensive Addictions Program for Adolescents (CAPA), the Home and Community-based Waiver Services Program, the Blended Case Management Program and the Children's Single Point of Access (CSPOA).
