The Peter Krueger Clinic (PKC) provides comprehensive outpatient care. As
a patient at PKC, you work with a primary care team, that includes an HIV
Specialist (a physician or physician assistant) and a registered nurse,
who are actively involved in managing your care. Your primary provider serves
as team leader and coordinates all routine medical care including exams,
lab tests, medical imaging, and referrals to on-site specialty services
such as gynecology, dermatology, dentistry, and pain management.
Your provider is also concerned about emotional and lifestyle factors—such
as stress, diet, substance use, or high-risk sexual behavior—that
may affect your health.
Hepatitis C
PKC is proud to introduce our new Hepatitis C program for patients co-infected
with HIV and Hepatitis C. Patients are now able to receive intensive Hepatitis
C education, care and treatment by a team of hepatitis specialists.
Nursing Care
Our compassionate nursing team consists of highly trained and experienced
professional registered nurses who provide triage, support, crisis intervention,
phlebotomy and other technical services, as well as extensive teaching
about individual treatment plans and sound personal health practices.
Mental Health
The Mental Health Program offers on-site mental health services to address
a wide range of issues experienced by people living with HIV. These services
include medication management, individual, couples and family psychotherapy
and professionally led support groups.
Nutrition
Registered nutritionists offer nutritional evaluations, counseling and
education, and conduct workshops on healthy eating.
Social Work/Case Management
Our masters-level social workers provide a wide range of social work and
case management services to meet the emotional and financial needs of
each patient. These services are part of a comprehensive package of services
for all patients. They include aiding the patient in navigating the entitlement
and benefits systems, mental health counseling, referrals, advocacy, and
assistance with obtaining legal aid.
Dental
Dental care is provided by a team consisting of a dentist
and dental assistant. Comprehensive dental services include diagnosis
and treatment, routine dental hygiene, cleanings, x-rays, fillings and
dentures. Referrals are made for oral surgery.
Treatment Adherence/Care Coordination
The Care Coordination program is specifically designed to help people with HIV/AIDS get the support and information they need - via navigation, coordination of medical and social services, health education and adherence support - to achieve better health outcomes and a greater level of self-sufficiency. We work closely with PKC's interdisciplinary team of health care providers to help clients remain connected tomedical care and important benefits such as health insurance, housing and medical transportation. In addition, we provide adherence support, reminders for medical appointments and accompaniment.
