Beth Israel Medical Center was named one of 2005's Top 100 Hospitals in the country, by Solucient.

Beth Israel Medical Center is taking the lead in national initiatives that focus on patient safety and quality, such as Rapid Response Teams and Red Rules.

A new Office of Business Development has been established as a resource for our physicians, particularly our voluntary physicians.

We established a new Direct Admission process to facilitate admission of patients who need immediate hospital care.

We recently opened the Gerald Friedman Center for Diabetes Care; a new labor and delivery unit; and a renovated orthopedic floor with concierge services. We are also undertaking a major lobby renovation, and will open a Center for Chronic Care Illness and Rehabilitation in 2007.

As a result of the excellent work being done in our Continuum Cancer Centers of New York, Beth Israel is part of the first system in New York to receive Cancer Center Accreditation from the American College of Surgeons.

We have a robust Asian Services program in place, led by Executive Chief Tak Kwan, MD. We also launched the Jewish Heritage program, led by Medical Director Richard Friedman, MD.

A new Emergency Room is under construction and will open in 2008. It is double the size of our former space!

We are renovating 10 patient care units throughout the hospital, and adding a state-of-the-art Luxury Suite floor, which opened in 2007.

Beth Israel Medical Center added a new MRI, a new 64-slice CT scanner, Dilon Breast-Specific Gamma Imaging equipment, a Linac Accelerator and a CT stimulator in the past year.

We have introduced new patient navigation services for Southern Brooklyn, Williamsburg, and the Lower East Side of Manhattan, to enhance patient care and satisfaction.

A leading independent health care ratings company designated Beth Israel as "Best in the Nation" in Back and Neck Surgery and Maternity for 2007.
