Angiograms
The procedure is performed in a specially equipped cardiac catheterization laboratory, also called a cath lab. During an angiogram, a nontoxic dye is injected through a catheter into the patient’s arteries, and the arteries are examined under a fluoroscope (low-dose X-ray camera). The table the patient lies on and the camera are movable, so different angles of the heart can be viewed to determine if there are any blockages.
