The Asian Services
Program at Beth Israel Medical Center aims to better understand the needs
of Asian patients and provide easy access to high quality inpatient and
outpatient care. The success of the program is largely due to the relationships
developed with referring doctors as well as the strength of our specialty
and sub-specialty services.
The Asian Services Program Offers:
- Multicultural staff that speaks your language and understand your
culture
- Physician liaisons that coordinate in-hospital care
- Chinese physicians to take good care of you
- Referrals to specialists
- Dedicated private ambulance services to transport patients to Beth
Israel
- Dedicated inpatient unit for Asian patients who are admitted to the
hospital
- Communication with your referring physician
- Chinese menu
Our goal is to make you comfortable from the moment you enter Beth Israel
through the use of multi-lingual signs, experienced interpreters, and
free Asian-American newspapers. In addition, we continue to recruit multi-lingual
employees and provide training to enhance employee understanding of the
cultural and family dynamics of the Asian community. Patients will be
served in a premier hospital that honors Asian culture, traditions and
language in a tension-free environment.

Asian Family Caregiver Program
Thanks to a generous grant from the Altman Foundation, the Department
of Pain Medicine and Palliative Care (DPMPC) at Beth Israel Medical Center
is launching an Asian Family Caregiver Program. The goal of this program
is to offer new services, provide educational assistance and to research
the community's needs and how to improve the well-being of Chinese-American
family caregivers or patients with serious or advanced chronic illness.
Health Assessment for Asians with Cancer
This program aims to understand the health needs of Asian patients with
cancer. Through a community health assessment, we are researching ways
to provide pain relief.
