Employee Health Services
Employee Health Services (EHS) at Mount Sinai Beth Israel has two clinics under its umbrella: Petrie Division and Kings Highway Division.

The EHS clinics offer a variety of medical services to the employees of Beth Israel. Some of these services include but are not limited to:

Pre-Placement Medical Assessment

  • Medical Assessment
  • PPD (testing for TB)
  • Blood work (rubella, rubeola, mumps, varicella, hepatitis B titers for immunity)
  • Vaccination, if susceptible to any of above titers
  • Fit-testing (clinical staff)
  • Flu vaccine is provided to all employees, students and volunteers

Compliance Requirements

  • OSHA regulations
  • NYS DOH regulations
  • Mount Sinai Beth Israel policy

Annual Compliance Screenings

  • Health assessment
  • PPD testing/TB symptom review

Goals of the compliance program:

  • Protect the employees, patients, community
  • Pro-active surveillance
  • Prevention, early identification and treatment of disease
  • Compliance with government rules and regulations
  • Effective use of resources
  • Encourage personal responsibility and accountability

Work-related injuries, sick calls and other services

  • Injuries are evaluated by Employee Health
  • Employees are evaluated for illness on the job
  • Clearance to return to work

The EHS clinics are directed by David D’Souza, MD, MPH, who is board certified as a specialist in occupational medicine and has a master’s degree in public health. He is a fellow of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and is on the executive committee of the New York Occupational and Environmental Medicine Association. In addition, he is a certified medical review officer and an independent medical examiner. Dr. D’Souza is an assistant professor of medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York.

Hours of Operation
The Petrie Division clinic is open Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 4:30 pm. The Kings Highway Division clinic is open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm.
