The Volunteer Services Department at Beth Israel Medical Center works to make your volunteering experience convenient and rewarding. From exploring options to becoming trained, to your very first day on the job, we’re here to support you. If you don’t see an opportunity that interests you, please contact us and we will work with you to create an experience that will meet your needs. Here are some important basics to help smooth the way:

Who Can Volunteer
All prospective volunteers must be 15 years of age or older and must also be medically cleared. In addition, individuals who are between the ages of 15 and 17 must provide working papers.

Starting the Process
Complete the appropriate volunteer packet below and email us to set up an interview. Select the volunteer packet based your volunteer location, availability and student status if applicable.

*Notes for High School Students

  1. Personal Reference must be from a teacher and or a counselor.

  2. Working Papers can be obtained through their High School Admission office or Counselor’s office. For 15 year olds the working paper card is the color Blue. Age 16 years to 17 years the working paper card is the color Green.

How You Will Be Trained
After your interview you will be given materials including open-book self tests that must be completed before you can begin to volunteer. On-site orientation and training will be provided by your department supervisor to offer the most rewarding and effective experience.

For Corporations
Various opportunities exist for corporations to get involved. We can sit down with your company representative to discuss your firm’s needs so that we can customize a program for you.
