Mount Sinai Beth Israel and Mount Sinai Beth Israel Brooklyn volunteers provide support and assistance to our patients and staff. Some of our volunteer opportunities include:
Volunteers are part of an inter-disciplinary team, helping on an in-patient nursing unit. Responsibilities include assisting staff by answering phones and call bells at the unit desk, visiting with patients and running in-hospital errands for staff.
Hospitality Desk volunteers offer a warm welcome to visitors and provide directions to patient rooms and departments throughout the hospital. This is a perfect opportunity for outgoing individuals who enjoy interacting with the public. Volunteers must have basic computer skills and be willing and able to complete an online training and test. Fluency in Spanish, Russian or Mandarin is helpful, though not required.
Mount Sinai Beth Israel Cares Program Volunteers advocate for our patients during their hospitalization by visiting with them to see how they are doing and to provide the patient the opportunity to know that Mount Sinai Beth Israel is here to help them and their family.
Surgical Advocate Program
Volunteers are advocates stationed in the surgical waiting room to provide non-medical information to family members while they are awaiting surgery to be finished.
