The program is a center of excellence for St. Luke’s and Roosevelt Hospitals and is a part of the hospital’s Division of Minimally Invasive Surgery. Certified as an American College of Surgeons Center of Excellence for Obesity Surgery, the Center is also affiliated with the New York Center for Obesity Research at St. Luke’s Hospital , which is nationally recognized for its expertise in the study and treatment of obesity.

  • Louis Brusco, MD, Anesthesiologist and Critical Care physician, is the program’s medical director for postoperative care.
  • Clinical coordinator and nurse practitioner Christine Haufmann, NP, coordinates preoperative workup, postoperative care and long-term follow-up.
  • Nutritionist and administrative program manager Aisling McGinty, MS, RD, and nutritionist Tricia Mah, MS, RD, are responsible for the preoperative evaluation process, nutritional guidelines and long-term follow-up.
  • Deborah Haller, PhD, a psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, provides psychological evaluations.
  • Blandine Laferrere, MD, serves as our medical liaison with the Department of Endocrinology.
