The Institute for Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery at St. Luke’s and Roosevelt Hospitals has established a number of collaborations with the New York Center for Obesity Research at St. Luke’s and Roosevelt Hospitals, which is nationally recognized for its expertise in the study and treatment of obesity. These include research projects in the areas of asthma, diabetes, body fat composition, endoluminal techniques for de Novo procedures, and IACUC protocols for new endoscopic procedures.

The Center is also involved in several ongoing research trials including a multi-center safety and efficacy trial for the Food and Drug Administration.

Additionally, we are in the midst of planning a major focus over the coming years in outcomes data research and the relationship between bariatric surgery and the co-morbidities of obesity, such as diabetes and heart disease.
