The Pediatric Neurology and Developmental Disabilities Service excels in treating children with brain disorders and diseases of the nervous system, spinal cord and peripheral nerves. These include brain malformations, brain tumors, neuromuscular diseases, cerebral palsy and spasticity, epilepsy , headache, ADD/ADHD, hydrocephalus, craniosynostosis, metabolic and mitochondrial disease, stroke, mental retardation, autism, and congenital malformations, including spina bifida.

Our developmental disability capabilities use comprehensive diagnostic systems for determining mental retardation, language and learning disorders, autism and sensory impairments, such as vision and hearing loss.

The service’s highly trained team of board-certified physicians has the knowledge and experience to identify neurologic and developmental disabilities early, so that children have the opportunity to develop to their full potential. They also provide support and education to parents in understanding just what their child faces and the options available to them.

Pediatric neurology care is performed at the Mirken Department of Neurology at Beth Israel Medical Center.
