Paul L. Kuflik, M.D.

Paul L. Kuflik, M.D., associate director of the Spine Institute, has extensive experience in orthopadiecs, with special emphasis on disorders of the spine and minimally invasive spine surgery.

Dr. Kuflik came to Beth Israel from the Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopaedic Institute. Since 1987, he served there as an assistant attending, and was named the chief of the scoliosis service in 1991. Dr. Kuflik also was the chief of spine services at Mount Sinai Medical Center as well as an attending in the department of orthopaedic surgery. He is board certified in orthopaedic surgery.

In addition to his numerous writings and lectures, Dr. Kuflik also served as section editor of Spine for the Editorial Board of the Bulletin for Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopaedic Institute, as well as a moderator for the spine section of the Alumni Scientific meeting there.

A native New Yorker, Dr. Kuflik earned an undergraduate degree from Queens College and his medical degree from S.U.N.Y. Upstate Medical College. After interning in general surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center, he complete his residency in orthopaedic surgery in 1986 at the Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopaedic Institute. He then completed his fellowship in spine surgery at Toronto General Hospital in Ontario.

Dr. Kuflik was named an assistant clinical professor of orthopaedic surgery at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1987 and a clinical assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery at New York University Medical Center in 1994.
